A Green & Gold Celebration at Keuka College

From the Class of ’76 to the 2025–26 Empire 8 Championship Men’s Basketball team, alumni from through the years and across the country gathered on the Keuka College Campus Sept. 25–27 for Green & Gold Reunion & Family Weekend to share memories, commemorate milestones, and celebrate past and recent achievements.

Keuka College’s Class of 1976 poses following the Pathfinders Luncheon. To commemorate their anniversary, class members raised more than $53,250 to establish the new Spirit of ’76 Scholarship, which will be used to help students defer costs associated with Field Period® placements.

Attendees came from near and far – very far in the case of Anne S. Bluemel ’76, who traveled from Wyoming to attend her 50th class reunion. She began her visit with a tour of the campus.

“I really got to see the full expanse of what’s been changed and upgraded,” she said. “I love it – it’s beautiful.”

Anne and her classmates were honored at the Pathfinders Luncheon, an annual Green & Gold event commemorating alumnae celebrating 50 years since graduation. College President Amy Storey lauded the class, which graduated when Keuka College admitted only women, highlighting the challenges and changes the alumnae have experienced over the past five decades.

“As we celebrate the Class of 1976, I hope you’ll take a moment to appreciate just how extraordinary your journey has been. You graduated in the year America celebrated 200 years of independence. You came of age at a time when women were beginning to enter spaces they had long been told were not for them. And then you went out and proved, in your own ways and in your own lives, that there was no shortage of places where women did belong – and no shortage of what they could accomplish once they were there.”

A full moon and fireworks lit up the sky over Keuka College during the Friday night of Green & Gold Weekend.

The Pathfinders Luncheon was among many highlights of the weekend, which included crafts, games, class reunions, student performances, and a Friday night fireworks display.

Capping Saturday’s celebratory schedule was the annual Alumni Association Award Presentations and Dr. Arthur F. Kirk, Jr. Hall of Fame Dinner.

Attended by some 200 alumni, family members, faculty, and staff, the dinner spotlighted alumni award winners and the newest members of the College’s Athletics Hall of Fame.

President Storey said the honorees reflect an institution where a low profile belies high achievement.

“Being overlooked has never meant being incapable,” she told the audience. “Over the past year, we have had some wonderful reminders of that. Our students competed on the national stage. Our voice was heard in Washington, D.C. Stories from our campus reached millions of people around the world on the Today show and NBC Nightly News. Again and again, people had an opportunity to discover what those of us in this room already know – there is something very special happening here at Keuka College.”

The nationally competing students President Storey referenced were the 2025–26 Men’s Basketball team, winners of this year’s Empire 8 Conference Championship and participants in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Team members were presented with championship rings at the dinner, along with Head Coach Tom Wilk and the namesake of the College’s Hall of Fame, President Emeritus Dr. Arthur F. Kirk, Jr., who attended the dinner with his family.

The audience also heard from Hall of Fame inductee Harvey Chapel ’93, who traveled from his home in the United Kingdom take part in the ceremony.

“The Keuka College community doesn’t leave you when you leave campus,” he said. “Thirty-three years on, in a different country, in a career I couldn’t have imagined at 19, I still find myself reaching for the things this place gave me – the coaches, the professors, the teammates, the habits built in an empty gym. That’s what this community means to me now: not a chapter that closed in 1993, but the foundation everything since then has been built on.”
